We currently partner with scientists and their tech transfer offices at more than 160 universities and research institutes worldwide to make their reagents more visible, searchable, accessible, manageable and commercially available.

Our mission is to make research reagents developed in academia around the globe such as mice models, cell lines, antibodies, etc., widely and easily available through our website to accelerate life science research.

Based in London, UK, Ximbio is expanding its US presence and is seeking additional Business Development Associates to join the team in its Boston, MA office.

The Ximbio Business Development Associate position is ideal for a recent life science PhD or post-doc looking to transition from the lab bench to technology transfer, business development and management. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of a rapidly growing number of academic research institute relationships across the US and their associated research tools portfolio.

Progression opportunities over time will include marketing, product management, sales and logistics, out-licensing to commercial organizations, and management.

Requirements

The post holder will manage an existing active reagent portfolio as well as a pipeline of new products by:

  • Liaising with inventing scientists, technology transfer offices to identify, assess and characterize new product candidates for the Ximbio portfolio;
  • Onboarding new academic accounts and products through In-licensing agreement negotiation and closure, liaising with Ximbio management, Finance, Legal departments, etc., as appropriate;
  • Capturing, uploading and updating product and agreement information and detail in the Ximbio database and website;
  • Managing product logistics and repositories;
  • Promoting the Ximbio brand and business by active on-campus outreach, conference attendance and social media;
  • Reviewing scientific publications to update and supplement the technical data of products;
  • Providing content for product mailers /flyers/newsletters/other forms of collateral for marketing campaigns.

You will have a recent PhD or post doctorate experience gained in life sciences, with preference given to those with bench experience in Cancer Research. Cell biology, IHC, immunoassay, western blot, and recombinant mouse model experience also preferred. An internship or other prior experience with databases or in a technology transfer role is a plus. You will possess excellent communication, organizational and attention-to-detail skills as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Having an intuitive and innovative approach to your work would be a distinct advantage.

Due to COVID-19, initial status is work-from-home; after immunizations are available, the location is in the South Station area of Boston, MA. 

Travel: Approximately 30% primarily throughout the US after COVID pandemic with international travel for occasional travel to the UK home office. Local candidates preferred but self-relocation acceptable.
